Private Residence

Salem, Oregon

This house is located on the western edge of Salem, Oregon. The site is elevated and affords views of the mountains in the distance. The program for this house reads like a college project. Two college professors wanted to construct a new home where each can have their own office, the plan needs to be open for entertaining, views to the mountains needed to be maintained, gracious amounts of daylight was desired, and a nod to the wife’s hometown of Athens, Greece needed to be incorporated. The house is quite compact and was designed to allow views to the mountains from all the rooms in the house. A columned and trellised porch off the Master Bedroom gives a slight nod to Greece. The house is based on the shingle style homes found in the older neighborhoods of Salem.
