The Retreat

Brookville, Ohio

This home, originally built in the 1960’s, was made over in a Craftsman style. Occupying over 6 acres in a pastural setting on a country road with little traffic, the Owners decided to invest in their existing home rather than move to a cookie-cutter builder’s house.  The program included a new entry, new kitchen and dining room, and a new master bedroom suite with custom built-ins and a trellised porch. A new two car garage was added and the driveway was relocated to create a gracious front yard. New exterior living spaces was designed to the rear of the house, which take advantage of the views to the east of the house. The renovation is based on the “Not So Big House” theory of architect Sarah Susanka. All new wood windows were also installed in the house.
